Relax, and Be Yourself

Relax, Be Yourself
Purpose:
To help students to let God lead their lives and not necessarily listen to people telling them what they cannot accomplish.

Passage:
Acts 16:11-15; 38-40.

Plan:
Did you ever have someone tell you that you cannot accomplish something? Maybe it was passing a test or accomplishing something in sports. There are people out there who are, for some reason, naturally negative and attack others with their negativity. I remember attending a funeral of a high school student and one of the senior boys began to cry. After the funeral another student was overheard talking about the young man and saying things like, he's such a cry baby.
There was one woman who would not listen to others who told her she could not accomplish thing in life. Her name was Lydia and she was a business woman in Philippi. She heard the disciples preaching and became extremely convicted and became a leader for Him.
Many people didn't think Lydia would be a leader in her business or in the church. You, like Lydia may be used by God in different ways. You may become a great preacher or Bible study teacher. You may become a leader in the church and help be responsible for reaching thousands for Jesus. You may be the one who invests a lot of time into a young person and what that young person accomplishes is beyond belief.

Performance:
Put your faith into action. Make a list of all the ways you can make a difference for Him. Your list might include praying for others, helping the needy, leading a Bible study or cleaning the church building. Just make up your mind to allow God to lead your life.
